About LCMF

July 1st - 22nd, 2019

Injuries, pain, frustration, stress, and self-doubt are the norm of the music profession. With practicing or performing nearly every day in extremely competitive environments, it comes as no surprise that most musicians succumb to some unhealthy habits. Studies show that up to 80% of music students and professional musicians have suffered from a playing-related injury, and rates of depression and anxiety are significantly higher in musicians compared to other professions. Yet musicians are seldom given the opportunity to learn about topics such as how to condition the body, injury prevention, self confidence, stress management, and performance anxiety.

Based in Walla Walla, WA, the Lotus Chamber Music Festival provides a unique educational experience for accomplished young artists by combining a summer music festival with a holistic wellness retreat. This three-week intensive program of chamber music study also provides guidance in musician’s health. Physical and mental wellness are essential for achieving the highest levels of consistency and quality in performance. All accepted students are offered a variety of learning opportunities including musician’s health classes, private lessons, masterclasses, chamber coachings, and performance opportunities. The festival will not only provide a life-changing learning opportunity for young musicians, but will also enrich the Walla Walla community by providing first-class chamber music concerts performed by the students and faculty at the festival.
